There's no place like home...

10 months ago you would have found me pouting that I had to move back to Idaho.  It must have been amnesia.  I must have forgotton how much I love this place.  Tonight after a crazy evening,  I was reminded once again why I love Idaho and the people who live here.

After attending my nieces dance recital I unlocked the car doors, threw my keys in the front seat and buckled Parker in.  I shut his door and heard the dreaded sound of my car locking all the doors. I still don't know why it did this, no one hit the lock button, but gratefully I had my cell phone in my pocket and called the local police department to come and unlock my car.  They called a locksmith for me and within about 20 minutes both an officer and a locksmith were there to attend to me. After unlocking my car, the locksmith said "no charge, we like to give a little community service when we can." I was astouned.  Even during hard times like these... people are still giving.

Last week I was walking to the Post Office, Tayler was riding on the front of the stroller and didn't tell me she was getting off.  When she attempted to get off, she tripped, and I promptly ran over both of her legs (she wasn't hurt, just scared). We happened to do in front of an older man who was mowing his lawn... he promptly stopped his machine, and came over and took Taylers hand saying "I bet a ride down my slide might help you smile!" His magic worked, Tayler was a happy camper after a few rides down the slide. I smiled and waved a thank you as we continued on our way to the post office.

When we arrived, Tayler insisted on opening the door she quickly found out it was too heavy and shut her fingers in the door. :(  The post master came running out, gave her a hug and and told her she would get a her a cold rag for her fingers.  She not only came out with a wet paper towel, but a crisp new dollar bill for her to take across the street and to buy herself a treat for "being so brave."

I could have cried on the way home.  This was "home."  This is the place I want my kiddos to grow up.  Among people who love and care for eachother.

A few weeks ago during Sunday School, they were talking about when the millenium was to come, and how we would all be in Zion living the law of consecration.  I thought to myself, "There is no way we as saints are ready for that."  After these past few weeks, maybe we are a lot closer than I thought.

Well that gave me a boost. What a good post. I do feel that we are incredibly blessed to raise our children in a place like Idaho.

Hence the reason I have never really left Idaho for any real length of time. You all thought I was the crazy homebody who needed to get out more. :)Little did you know that I was just a step ahead. :)
